Larry Prescott began his appreciation of the trumpet at a very early age, having access to 1960’s pop trumpeter Herb Alpert’s Whipped Cream and Other Delights as a toddler. Musical tastes broadened to classical music soon after, as did his trumpet role models, Adolph “Bud” Herseth and Maurice Andre. It was through the latter that Larry began to develop his sense of style and lyricism.
Larry received his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance at Iowa State University where he studied with Joseph Christensen. He earned a Master of Music in trumpet performance at Northwestern University where he studied with Vincent Cichowicz.
Larry lives in Bloomington with his wife Karen and their two sons, Aaron and Eli (all musicians as well).
